The location was outstanding. Once you hit the streets, you are surrounded by shops, food, and transportation options. We did not try the hotel breakfast, as the food all around the hotel has less expensive options.

Fabulous location in Gion. Staff generally helpful and friendly. Onsen is lovely. Breakfast buffet is excellent with a variety of food options.

Fantastic hotel all round. The location is great - so close to the Gion Shijo station, Gion and there are endless restaurant choices around. The staff were so lovely and accommodating, we ended up extending our stay and they were able to keep us in the same room which was fantastic. Our basement room had a lovely view of the garden, we chose the premier king room and the bed was absolutely enormous - amazing! The breakfast buffet has plenty of western and Japanese options, they change things every other day so you don't get sick of it.

Excellent location in the Gion part of Kyoto; a beautiful, stylish Hotel, with great facilities, such as a spa (onsen) open from 6am, every day, with a large pool. The Hotel also provides a fridge, and a cattle in every room, and a microwave and ice machine in the lobby area, as well as free coffee, snacks and beauty products! There is a bar as well (also in the lobby). The staff is incredibly kind and helpful at the reception, and on every floor, distributing fresh towels and bottled water every day to every room, and collecting rubbish. Free slippers are also provided to go to the spa (onsen).

The hotel is very nice; room was clean, although a bit small after a few days. Public bath was lovely; staff was great. Great value for money and nice location. It's a block from the very bustling area, but felt mellow at the hotel. But at night it was quiet; incredibly effective blackout curtains.

Location in the city, lobby and decor, bed very comfortable, good snacks and coffee around the hotel. Bath was beautiful.

The location is fantastic and within walking distance to many sites like Gion, Pontocho Street and Higashiyama neighborhood. Easy to catch a cab just outside of hotel. Very clean and friendly staff. Breakfast is very good.

We had breakfast in the hotel every morning and I'm so glad we opted for it! We woke up so early to get out at a good time for crowds and a lot of other places weren't open yet. We also put a lot of thought into lunches / dinners that it was nice to not have to plan another meal and just head downstairs. Lots of variety in the food and drink options! The location was great for getting around daily. It's a bit far from Kyoto station but once you figure out the city bus you should be fine. Would advise not to ride the bus at rush hour! They offer luggage delivery service which was very convenient for us.

Breakfast is a great value, especially for a country that doesn't really do breakfast. Outside the hotel, food for early in the morning is hard to find unless you go to a convenience store. The bed is more comfortable than most Japanese hotels, and the location is fantastic. The public bath is quiet and easy to access. Rooms are fairly small, but that's expected for a hotel in Japan in a city center. Check in was quick and easy, and the lobby staff were accommodating of our requests. They even allowed us to keep our luggage with the front desk for several hours after check out. This hotel is also fairly close to transit and the Kamo river.

The Kyoto Granbell was great! What we liked was the staff was so eager to assist. Any questions was greeted by two or more staff! The property has a public onsen which is perfect to wind down after a long day of sightseeing. The hotel provides snacks, water and coffee all free of charge! Breakfast is buffet style and costs extra but reasonably priced! It has a small bar with whiskey, ice cold beer and some wines! We love d that it is in the Gion district close to public transportation! Feels like a boutique hotel!!
