This impressive hotel is situated in the centre of Gion, just around the corner from the busy Shijo shopping street. Yet when you check in, the atmosphere is mellow, controlled and elegant. The staff are superb, greeting all the guests without fail, and alway ready with a suggestion or advice about your itinerary. The public bath is fantastic - clean, really well stocked with everything you may need - and we spent many happy hours there. It's the first time that I stayed in a hotel room where the - very large - King-sized bed took up the full one side of the room, from wall to wall. Against expectations, it was really comfortable, with more than enough space for books, water, electronics etc. The nearest station is less than two minutes from the hotel and from there you can reach any of Kyoto's spectacular attractions. When traveling, the question remains: if I visit Kyoto again, will I re-book this hotel? The answer here is a definite, YES. We appreciate their friendliness, efficiency and the many highballs we had at the bar.

Location: Was pretty close walking distance to a local station (please keep in mind it is not a JR station). It was also on a quiet street so it was not nosy at all. Staff: Staff was very friendly and helpful. The staff has varying levels of English knowledge but they still try their best to assist with whatever you need. They also were very helpful with booking a dinner reservation for me. Room: This was our favorite room we booked on our trip. The amenities made this hotel a new favorite. The tv has an English Netflx account which was amazing and was a huge plus for me. The layout made the most of the small space and our bed had an outlet on the frame. Bathroom was modern and had a nice shower and counter. We also really liked the skincare bar in the lobby where we could pick up any toiletries we needed.

The property is tucked away in an alley right next to the Hanamikoji Street and the Kamo River. It was lovely to wake in the mornings to quietly walk the Kamo River and then walk into the bustling Hanamikoji Street. Despite being near this street, the hotel still manages to be very quiet and there isn’t any sound pollution in the hotel. The facilities were amazing, the public bath is beautiful and clean. The room itself was very comfortable and clean as well with a tv that you can use Apple TV, YouTube, etc. Lastly, the staff were all really amazing, there are lots of food options in Kyoto and it can be overwhelming but the staff talked to me for a while and helped me find places to eat and helped me try to make reservations. Overall, an amazing stay, I just wish that I could’ve stayed longer!

There's nothing to fault at this hotel. It's my second time staying here, and 5 years after my first visit, this hotel exceeded my expectations once again. It's in the most incredible location, right in the heart of the Gion (old town) district but only a few minutes walk to two train stations and a ten minute walk to the market. The rooms are tiny (comparative to what I'm used to in western hotels) but the bed is comfortable and everything is maintain well and very clean. The best part of this hotel has to be the public baths. It's the best hotel spa/bath experience I've ever had. It's open till 1am so I went late and had the whole place to myself. Loved it!

The great staff, we had a small problem with our original room, the staff quickly switched us to a different room. We really appreciated that. The location is awesome. 5 minute walk to the Gion-Shijo station or the bus stop. 5 minute walk across the street to one of the most beautiful streets in the Gion district. About 15 minute walk to Nishiki market. The public bath was very clean and it was a good place to unwind. Get breakfast too. This was one of the best breakfasts I’ve had in Japan.
